Default Barns in the Waco, TX area....help!

A friend is looking to retire her show hunter in the Waco, TX area.

He is still rideable but she doesnt need a show barn...something nice with stalls and daily turnout and excellent care for an older horse.

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Thanks!

I know of a great place, but it's closer to Dallas. (I realize this was the most helpful post EVER, but if she decides to expand her search area, let me know!)

I will let her know...Im trying to convince her to expland her search to an hour or so out of Waco in either direction because it just doesnt look like there is much IN Waco.

There doesn't seem to be much here. Fortunately we don't board, but I did look around for barns because I wanted lessons. It feels like a horsey waste-land (please, someone, prove me wrong... I would like to find horse people!)

And she doesnt even need lessons...just a decent place to board her horse where she wont have to worry about him. A place to ride would be a bonus but she can hack out in a field...doesnt need jumps, etc.

It does seem Waco is a horsey waste land!

Whit Watkins (GP dressage rider) recently moved to Waco, but her website isn't updated. She's a "friend of a friend" so I'll try to find out if she boards.

Well it's not in Waco, but in Belton which is about 45min south of Waco, but I boarded at Salado Creek Riding Club. They have very nice facilities, ESP their turnout, great stalls, and the arena is decent (footing is deep, but doable). They also have some short trails and grass areas where you can ride. I boarded there for about 6 months before I moved to OK and wished I had moved there sooner (and that the place I am at now was anywhere near as nice). It is more of a dressage barn, but as a hunter rider I never felt out of place there.

In Waco there's a small boarding barn called Stonegate Farms. I'm pretty sure they have stalls open right now, horses get all day turnout and unlimited bales in turnouts. Have a few pastures for rotating also. No trainer but there is a grass ring (pasture type) with jumps and another level dressage ring, or you can just ride in the far pasture which has a few cross country jumps. I really like it there; the woman who feeds/mucks/turns out lives in the rental house right next to the barn and the BO is super nice and very accommodating. PM me if you want contact/more info!

Yes, I just found this out. They suggested Kathy Jacobi's (sp?) Her contact info. here www.breecheslady.com and Ellen White. Ellen has been around Waco forever, and she's now coach of Baylor's equestrian team, but they said she has a boarding facility. Don't have her contact info. Sorry

I don't know if you have found a place yet but I have a small, family run eventing and dressage farm about 25 minutes east of Waco and do take boarders. You can see us on Facebook at Trinity Creek Farm or visit our website at trinitycreekfarm.com. I have a 6 stall barn with runs and daily turn out as well as riding facilities.

The people of Waco might be kind of focused on the fire and explosion Tuesday in the neighboring town. Don't you think it might be tasteful to wait just a bit longer until say......they have stopped counting the dead.

5, read the dates first. The question is from November, answers from December, until txkramp brought it up to OFFER a spot.

    Sorry.
The fire/explosion is very much on my mind.
I did not read the date.
