Contact Smartpak. I had that happen once- needed to place an order, wanted the discount, but needed to wait 2 days so I could deposit my paycheck. They held the order for me, gave me the discount, and just processed it that Friday. It never hurts to ask, at worst they say no.

Contact Oster anyway. I had an old old pair of clippers that my family bought used in the 1960s. I used them for years and then they died I would say about 3 years ago. I called them and they said to send them to them but the parts were not available any longer - no wonder they were like 40+ years old. They sold me a reconditioned pair for almost nothing.

It never hurts to ask.

finish him up with a pair of A5's or something similar, it will just take a bit longer but as long as he is clean and doesn't have steelwool hair it will be fine

Ok I added photos to the original post... (I can't help it, I love this horse, he just makes me smile.)

I found the old clippers today and the seem to be running fine. But I won't know for sure until I try to clip tomorrow night...

If you buy a new pair, DON'T go with another pair of osters. I clip professionally and after 3 years of using my Andis Super 2 speeds, (they come in maroon) I finally broke down and bought a new pair. I had clipped probably up to 50 horses with my old Andis' and would never trust anything else!

I had the head that shifts the clipper blades break after I bought a new pair of clippers - the same ones - the screw was too tight. I now have an extra head - bought two sets when the head broke - make sure you keep everything well lubed and clean the blades often. I have an extra set of blades too - change the blades half way through every clip.

The saga continues...
I found my old set of clippers and put the new blades on them. The were clipping fairly well when I got about 1/3 of him done (Did his barrel and just did the first few swipes on his butt). When he picks up his hind foot and slams it toe down right on the cord. It sparks and the clippers go dead. I yell for my friend to quickly unplug them, then get them out from under his foot. Yup, he basically cut straight through the cord! Lucky he didn't get shocked or worse.

So I pulled out my A5's and found I had bought a pair of the wide blades for it, incase of emergencies. Lucky for me! And finished him up with those. Not great, but they did the job.Took forever though... LOL

Reclipping a mare I had the night before a show, she gave on heck of a kick and the clippers flew out of my hand and smashed into eight million pieces against the stall wall. I had to go way old school and break out scissors for the last little bit, thank goodness she was gray and it blended okay.

Lovely horse and great clip job. Very sorry about the clippers. Lots of good advice. My additional advice: Eat those chocolate chip cookies I see in the other pic.... You'll feel better!
