Entire Phar Lap Movie on YouTube!
I loved this moved, even if it's terribly sad.

I love that movie! I remember having an absolute fit when it came out in the theatres because my parents claimed I was too young to see it.

I remember almost nothing of this movie other than I was a blubbering mess by the end of it. I'm a little scared to watch it again!

Adore it, but the end does me in too.
Whatever happend to Mr Burlinson anyway? He was awfully yummy. Adored him in The Man From Snowy River along with Sigrid Thornton.

I love this film. I saw a friend's VHS copy years ago and was never able to find a copy of my own. It's not available on Netflix, either. Imagine my surprise when it showed up on youtube awhile ago. I was thrilled! This is by far my favorite horse film.
I heard a neigh. Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was! My very heart leaped with delight at the sound. --Nathaniel Hawthorne

I've kept up with him over the years, even though he's old enough to be my dad.
But I might say he was my first crush... at age 5, in 1984, when I first saw The Man From Snowy River. I'm in my 30's now and that is still, hands down my favorite all time move. Followed closely by "Danny"
Phar Lap is a fantastic story.

OMGiH, I've been meaning to get my VHS copy burned onto DVD for years now. I love this movie and yes, it still makes me cry my eyes out

I read somewhere that the Australian ending was different and that Phar Lap didn't die. Can anyone confirm this?
Why do movie studios do this? I have just in the past year or so discovered the wedding scene from The Man From Snow River II (Return to Snowy River). Apparently that scene was included in the Australian release, but not the US release.
I guess I'll have to order an Australian copy of Phar Lap, TMFSR and RTSR. Anyone know if Aussie DVDs will play in my US DVD player?

The ending in this version is different!
They do "the ending (sad) scene at Menlo Park first"; up to the part where the reporter is walking up to ask Telford why all the fuss, as Phar Lap was 'only a horse.'
THEN you get the movie.
After the Agua Caliente race, it cuts back to the scene with Telford who tells the reporter 'he wasn't just a horse!'
I actually like this version better!!

I have the Aussie version on DVD (the benefits of having a multi-region DVD player and friends Down Unda!) and it is different from the international cut. In Australia "everyone" knows who Phar Lap was and what happened to him, so the scenes after the Agua Caliante are shown first (instead of at the end).
The DVD I have has an extras disc because it was the 75th anniversary (I think of Phar Lap winning the Melbourne Cup) release.
