Oh, come on...it's fun! I LOVE getting "bad" notifications when I've said something totally logical and rational. It just reminds me that horse people are nuts (as am I) and you'll never please everyone. It's quite humbling. LOL
A good horseman doesn't have to tell anyone...the horse already knows.
Agreed - to an extent.
I really don't give a fig for whomever does not like what I post.
If they wanna argue, fo'get the Thumbs Down and let's dance on the thread!
Plus the thumb count list is itself annoying and useless IMHO.
I certainly cannot be bothered to look up each thread since it is identified only by post#.
If it included some text to identify which post of mine, maybe.
And, then again, maybe not.

I've gotten a handful or two of thumbs downs...and almost all for the most inane posts. Mostly for posts I made in the Help forum that said "thank you" and even a "happy birthday." Or what we eat for Thanksgiving.
They make me grin...I figure either someone's having fun/making funny by posting a Bad to the least possible objectional posts or probably some silly passive aggressive twit finally feeling 'powerful' enough to tell whomever they've never liked how they feel as long as they don't have to reveal themselves.
Either scenerio is kinda funny.
I've given a bunch of thumbs up...it is much easier to to that than post "ditto." And I've given some thumbs downs...only a couple 2/3 or so for info I basically disagreed with. But have then posted why I disagreed with something since it was the idea or info I disagreed with instead of the person posting.

My negatives appear to be for OT Day posts on controversial topics such as politics. Some people seem to have a real problem when you point out that the two old party candidates both are fine with killing babies, children and innocent women and other funeral attendees in drone strikes.
I consider those thumbs-down to be badges of honor.

I get a lot of the TDs. I think they are all from the same one or two posters. It gives me a giggle. One thread I even egged them on, posting a comment that said "I bet I will get a TD." I got like three, and then someone went back and TDed all my posts in that thread, all at the same time because I watched the notifications pop up within about 10 seconds. Good thing they didn't have dial up...

yeah I didn't love the idea of thumbs down to start with (I kind of like the thumbs up though, makes you feel good when people share your opinion)...
And now I like it even less after noticing how some posters use it: Have you noticed that if someone disagrees with you on one thread, you'll suddenly get thumbs down on like your 5 previous posts "just cause". Mistyblue, I think that's where the thumbs down on "Happy birthday" posts come from.. pretty lame and easy to put a name on "anonymous". At least it's been my experience.
I think they should do it differently, more like World of Warcraft or Allnurses.com do it.
Allnurses posts are similar to ours, except they say "posterXXX and Y others thanked Original Poster for this post" and you can see exactly who liked the post.
World of Warcraft you can immediately hit "like", if you hit on the tab with the report function you get a little drop down with "dislike" "trolling" "spam" and "report" options. Posts that are rated highly enough get highlighted (it'll say something like "this post is highly rated") posts that are lower rated will get hidden (kind of looks like our ignore function) it says something like "this message has been downgraded and is hidden due to user input, click here to view"
Or at least change it to disagree instead of "BAD!"
Michael: Seems the people who burned me want me for a job.
Sam: A job? Does it pay?
Michael: Nah, it's more of a "we'll kill you if you don't do it" type of thing.
Sam: Oh. I've never liked those.
I agree, I have gotten so many thumbs down from the most innocent posts,
Thanksgiving dinner idea, Secret santa, What books I am reading??
Really really strange. I would hate to see if I posted something really controversial!
