Hi,

Now I know for showing I can wear a stock tie, regular tie or choker.... my question is.... if I wear a shirt like this

with the top button done up does that count as wearing a choker? I mean I know its not ACTUALLY a choker but its a collar that looks like one if I am making sense?!

I would say No. A choker fastens in the back and doesn't have a button in front... the shirts you linked to just have normal stand-up collars.

Thanks I am confused because it seems jumper or hunter (not sure which lol) people can wear shirts like this which also have buttons at front (wrap style) and according to Dover (who I guess may not be right) this means there is no need for choker http://www.doversaddlery.com/beacon-...k/p/X1-200055/

we dressagistas don't wear "chokers", tho ... we wear stock ties.

Having said that, I used to show with a simple choker/tie and I doubt anyone would have noticed if it was a wrap such as the one pictured in the link in your post.

Still, unless coats are waived, yep ... you should wear a stock tie to be correctly attired.

I don't think I have to wear a stock tie to be properly attired the USEF rules allow for a choker or tie as well its just convention that means most people wear stock ties.... I hate them I am always losing them, getting them covered in sunscreen and dirt etc I was hoping I could wear one built into my shirt as an alternative but I guess to be safe I should add a choker or stock tie .... either one I will happily dirty up and lose before the day is out doubtless.....

Especially as I will already be walking a fine line with my newest Animo jacket.... guess I don't want to draw any MORE attention to self than absolutely necessary... or maybe I should wear all my craziest stuff at once and hope the judge is so bemused she lets it all pass.... hmmmm

The H/J shirts with a wrap collar don't have buttons in the front of the collar - its usually a snap that's located to the side, so the fron of the collar still looks like a choker.

A shirt like the one in your second post would probably work, as all of the buttons are covered. Add a nice stock pin and you'll be fine. The dress rules allow for non-stock tie options mostly to accommodate competitors from other disciplines, so if you prefer a choker then go with it. Alternatively, if you're looking for more-traditional but easy solutions, you might consider a pre-tied stock, a stock-tie bib or a shirt like this: http://www.toggi.com/acatalog/Mirama...questrian.html

I'm not a stock tie fan, so I'm planning to wear something like that but bring a real choker with me in case I need to pop it on. That's my approach.

I wore this last weekend, and no one said a peep. It snaps on the side but looks like a choker. You can snap the collar back on itself when coats are waived so it's a "collar-less" shirt.

I can't stand stock ties either, so I have always just shown in a wrap collar shirt like the hunter people wear. Looks nice and clean under the new technical fabric jackets (I wear the Pikeur Skarlett).
