Where To Find Used Saddles
Ugh...I am so hard to fit for everything...
Now I'm looking for a saddle. Yesterday, we put almost 300 miles on my car going to Middleburg, Warrenton, Winchester, and all the way to Martinsburg trying to find a saddle that fits. I'm even looking on e-bay and not having much luck.
Where is the best place to find a saddle? I need short flaps and unless I buy new or spend $$$, I can't find anything that fits me.

I've been there! Short flaps, slightly forward and a smaller seat. Hard to find without the trial and error of lots of saddles and unfortunately for me that generally means I'm shipping from the east coast because we don't have good tack stores around here and a lot of the consignment stores carry kind of yuckier saddles and there aren't many places for the new saddle brands that I would be looking for that are close. Did you try Beval's used site allthebestusedsaddles.com? Saddlesource.com (Rick's) I've ended up spending the money for a nicer used saddle with the right flap, but the next time around I'm going to try something a little cheaper probably. If you are ok with the Toulouse's try classicsaddlery.com she knows those saddles in and out. The only problem is they don't have a short flap option so depending on how short you need something might end up working (I'm ok to 12" maybe a 12.5 but anything longer looks kind of dumb on me) But most seem to sit around 13". Oh, and Beval is having their sale right now so 20% off saddles. New though, not used.

I've been saddle shopping all day! Online though...just got outbid on ebay. I have the opposite problem, I need very long/forward flaps. And to make things worse, my horse is hard to fit with high withers and a broad back.
I usually check out Trumbull Mtn, Middleburg Tack Exchange, Ricks Heritage, Ebay, Horse Clicks, Pelham Saddlery, Fine Used Saddles, and Usedsaddles.com.

Everyone else has suggested all the sites I used. I contacted almost all of the used sites listed and will recommend Iselltack.com and saddlesource.com (Rick's) for outstanding customer service. The lady at Fineusedsaddles.com was also helpful.
I ended up purchasing from Pelham Saddlery because they had the extremely hard to find special order saddle I needed. While they made good on a banking mistake they made, they had wrong information about the saddle posted online. Luckily, I knew what I was looking at and contacted the manufacturer for specs. The end result of the transaction was good though and I do love my saddle.

I bought a used saddle through www.yoursaddles.com (Murphy's sport horses). Extremely responsive, came as advertised and they do trials.

This is a timely thread. Looking for a saddle for boyfriend but he probably needs a size 18.5. Also fairly long femur so a forward flap. Going to the local tack stores is so frustrating because they rarely carry that size! Also strongly prefer to get something used to get more bang for our buck.

Pinnacle Horseware has a nice selection of used saddles and they are great to work with. You might be able to find something on Tacktrader if you know what you like. You could also try Premier Tack Outlet, that is also a great company to work with.
Best of luck!
MORE muddy laundry, mare?! But I thought I just washed everything...
