    Default Trotting

My horse naturally does an extended trot but I read that there are 3 main types of trots working, collected and extend. So my question is how do I get my horse to preform the other trots.

I could be wrong, but my guess is that you have not been riding for very long and/or you have not worked with a trainer. In order to answer your question, I would have to write a short novel.

So, I will recommend this book for you. Once you read and digest that, I suggest that you look for a book that goes into more depth about riding and technique.

Also, I suggest that, if you can and are not already doing so, you take some lessons with a trainer. He or she will be able to help you actually see and feel the different types of trot.

    Good Luck!

I would be surprised if your horse is really going around in an extended trot all the time or at all. Fast and strung out isn't the same as extended. Second the need for an instructor.

True, I've only been riding for 4 years and my trainer was just the get on a ride not really technical. But I'm looking a taking lessons on my horse from someone that's suppose to be really good.
