Can't stand abbreviation DH or DD...
Does this drive anyone else crazy? Who actually ever says Darling Husband or Darling Daughter? Where did these sickeningly sweet abbreviations come from?
It gets to the point where sometimes I can't read posts that are peppered with DH or DD. It drives me up a wall.
I will always write out Husband, Daughter, Boyfriend whatever as my own small protest.
Am I alone?

That's not as bad, I always read them as Darling whatever from when I first encountered the abbreviations and didn't know what they stood for. Google informed me it was Darling whatever.

It is all in how you read it.
DH - Dear Hubby/ Deranged Hubby/ Desperate hubby/ Dumbass Hubby/ Dipsh!t hubby and so on.
DD- Dear Daughter/ Dreadful Daughter/ Digbat Daughter
I am sure you get the idea.

This discussion reminds me of something one of my guy friends said about his girlfriend. He told me she nicknamed him Xero. He told me it was because just by changing the pronunciation she could either refer to him as a "Hero" or as a "Zero".
I don't like the abbreviations either. If I want to refer to a certain person I just spell out who it is.

I don't mind those, but what I do mind is when I don't know what the heck some of them mean! Like IIRC, I just figured out what IRL meant(in real life).
Or all the abbreviations for breed registries. I can see not typing it all out every time, but I think you should the first time in a post, so people know.

OH! I know! It made me nuts for MONTHS, but I finally figured out what IIRC means! It's: If I Remember Correctly. Now when I see this, I just skim/shorten it to IMS = If Memory Serves.
I hate that DD and DH business too. When I mean my husband, I just put hubs. I don't have a daughter, and the son I do have is easy! ;D

I use the DH to mean Dear Husband with no sarcasm at all. Doesn't bother me a bit. Re-home, re-purpose, whatever are fine as well. I see languages as constantly evolving, so those terms don't drive me crazy. Now text-speak, that sends me right up the wall!
