Default wondering if my cat has diabetes

bonsai is only three years old and this past week or two has been grouchy and just off.
he's always been fascinated by the tub spigot and asks to drink from it whenever i am in the bathroom. i'm noticing now that he's almost always thirsty also.
i'm calling my vet later this morning but thought i'd ask about diabetes in cats in general first.
i have heard that sometimes cats have spontaneous remissions from diabetes, are there any alt treatments i should know or ask about for him?

in case it's important, two years ago he lost his tail to a predator or accident, and i think he's never been really happy or comfortable since.
he eats and drinks and hunts and plays as usual, but he's just nqr if you know what i mean.

He seems a tad young for diabetes.

Classic stuff to look for early on is thirst, Big Thirst and also more urination. Sometimes, too, the cat will present with a UTI since there will be lots of sugar in the urine.

Diabetes is pretty straight-forward to diagnose but you do need a DVM to do it.

    Best wishes for Bonsai!

Cats with UTIs and cystoliths/uroliths often drink more and pee more also.
