How about Overboard? At least the first 20 minutes-why is that? So many movies are memorable for the first 20 minutes only

    Annie Goolahie??

So I was short AND fat??"

I caught some of Moonstruck last night! More great lines:

    Rose waking up: Who's dead?

    Rose: How's the mother?
Loretta: She's dying. But I could still hear her big mouth.

    Grandpa: Someone, tell a joke.

Rose to Loretta: Your life's going down the toilet!

Rose to Cosmo: I just want you to know no matter what you do, you're gonna die like everybody else.
    Cosmo: Thank you, Rose.

    STELLAR.

Oh Lovey1121...Overboard! Loved that movie...the whole thing! I drive Mr Blue nuts...if we get near water I shout "Arturo!" at him, LOL! (and we live 10-15 minutes from the ocean)

Or when she's catatonic after watching the kids "ba ba ba ba ba."

And my fave line, "It's a helluva day at sea, Sir!"

    Hold onto the bridle!

It doesn't get much attention, but I thought The Money Pit, with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long, was hilarious. Love Mean Girls as well. "You smell like a baby prostitute."
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

    MistyBlue, some Greek for you

Aunt Voula: What do you mean he don't eat no meat?? Oh, that's ok. I make lamb.

Toula: When I was growing up,I knew I was different. Other little girls were blonde and delicate, and I was a swarthy six year old with sideburns.

    OPA!!

I loved The Money Pit! Such great physical comedy! The turkey scene, the scene where Walter falls through the floor, and my favorite is when the bathtub falls through the floor. Tom Hanks' laugh is one of the singlemost hysterically funny laughs of all times IMO.

Here lies Walter Fielding. He bought a house. And it killed him.

    Great thread, thank you!

Most of my favourites have already been mentioned:

The Full Monty - one of my all-time favourites in any category. Gentle, sweet, sad funny, understated. The scene in the dole line and the audition ("that's why they call him Horse") are some of my favourites.

The Princess Bride - I never get tired of it. "Have fun storming the castle".

Galaxy Quest - just perfect, I love it!

    Spinal Tap
    Best in Show
    When Harry Met Sally
    Legally Blonde
    Young Frankenstein

The Austin Powers movies are a guilty pleasure. You would maybe like to think that you are 'too sophisticated' ..but you can't help it - it's FUNNY.
I admit to having something of a crush on Mike Myers. You hope that he won't go for that joke....but he goes for it...and you laugh..

I also love the Shrek movies, funny, sweet, smart, and yes sometimes about bodily functions.

I think it is as another poster already said about comedy - for me what makes it funny is if it is still kind.
I hate to see people hurt or humiliated, animals tossed or thrown - even if it is computer generated, it doesn't matter.

My husband LOVES Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and watches and rewatches it...

I just seen a movie called My Life in Ruins (I think with the same actress) it was pretty good. It's a romantic comedy set in Greece, neat to see the places.

We were doing the mailboat run to Monhegan Island from Port Clyde ME and it was a perfect early June day-cloudless, calm, bald eagles and puffins flying about, seals and porpoises spotted, and as we disembarked at Monhegan the Cap'n asked me how the trip was. To which I replied, couldn't help myself, "Its a helluva day at sea, Sir!"

I *loved* the Austin Powers movies. Myers is a comic genius.

A fun, corny comedy: Mars Attacks. Hilariously ridiculous movie with one helluva star-power cast!
