Wool Quarter Sheet - why so hard to find?
It's getting chilly here in NY and I'm looking all around for a quality wool quarter sheet. Don't mind paying for something that is worth it, but I can't seem to find any! Does anybody know of any sites that have wool quarter sheets in stock? Thanks!

VTO has a wool one, it's on sale, and if you need some other stuff, there is a 20% off code in the Black Friday sale thread for orders over $100.

I've been looking at quarter sheets myself, but have decided what I really want is a blaze orange fleece one since I mostly trail ride in the bush. I'm probably going to get some polar fleece fabric and just make one. If you're handy, you could probably make one out of a wool army surplus blanket for a lot less than buying one ready made.

I heard a neigh. Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was! My very heart leaped with delight at the sound. --Nathaniel Hawthorne

I'm leaning towards the shires newmarket wool rug. Does anyone know how the sizing runs? My mare wears 80-82 in blankets.
Thanks!

Northwoods Rider, this company makes blaze orange quarter sheets. I have ordered from then and the stuff is really great quality and they are nice to work with. I don't have the quarter sheet, but I have their saddle pad and dog vest. They are very nice.

Thanks OneonOne. I've looked at them in the past and haven't ruled them out, but mostly when I need it is in the fall, when it's starting to get pretty cool up here, so the extra insulating value of the polar fleece would be good and I kind of want a more contoured shape that than one provides.

I totally understand! I wasn't sure if you'd decided to make one because you hadn't been able to find one, or if you didn't like the ones you'd found.

If you prefer the over-the-leg variety and are going for quality, Heythrop makes a nice 100% wool exercise rug:

I know you said "quality," but I'm sure folks will check into this thread looking for a budget option. For those who will settle for 80% wool, 20% acrylic, Schneider's sells a nice quarter sheet for under $30. I've had a Schneider's 80% wool quarter sheet for years, including years spent in Michigan, and it got the job done admirably for the price.

Horze also sells one, but I think theirs has a goofy design that wouldn't do much to keep a horse warm.

Bought my supplies today to attempt to make a blaze orange polarfleece keyhole quarter sheet. Wish me luck! Will post pics if it works out. Everything I needed was on 1/2 price at fabric store today.

Since this thread got bumped, I'll add that Curvon/Baker makes a wool quarter sheet in their Peerless quality 85/15 wool-nylon blend. It's about $125 and you can trick it out with embroidery, piping, single or double binding, etc. It's the go-under-the-saddle, no-keyhole variety of quarter sheed.

I will second The Clothes Horse. - www.theclotheshorse.com
Give Katrina a call and tell her what you want and you will get it! Best quality anywhere too! Why order something that may not work when you can get one made that's exactly right!
