Quietann, does their farmhouse have the cool old crooked window going up the stairs to the second floor? I'm always so bummed when I see farmhouses in VT or Maine with either a new energy-efficient window replacement there or worse, an upright window in that spot. I just love those old wavy-glassed 2 over 2's!

And do you need tiny feet and supplemental oxygen to climb the stairway?

Family is out of town this year, so we are going to a friend's house. I'm bringing Apple Cider and Sea Salt Caramels and Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Seeds.

In case we're still hungry I made braised short ribs yesterday, and will serve with garlic mashed taters. Scalloped apples and pears for dessert.

I'm making chicken Sambar this year, but have been hearing on the radio that Durham, NC, hosts the largest vegetarian Thanksgiving meal in the USA-- without even BUTTER-- and it's fantastic. I'm thinking that's where I want to be next year.

Guess what-- I'm not exactly traditional-- at least not now! I did 25years+ of turkey, pies, etc., all like grandma's. Now the kids are grown and gone far, far away, and I intend to explore the silver lining.

I think Grandma would approve. She died on her 3rd trip around the world-- broke her hip reveling in a storm off the Great Barrier reef, Australia and succumbed to a blood clot.

I will be tagging along with my farm owner to her Dad/Stepmother's house. They kindly feed me every Thanksgiving and Christmas. All the traditional stuff plus plenty of good snacks and some cracking Grandparents who love to give everyone a hard time!
