Question Trip to Wellington - Advice please

So, I am going to give myself a treat this winter and go to Wellington for 3-4 days. I'm in horse show withdrawal. In addition to watching the classes, I would enjoy just cruising the grounds watching the schooling rings, the people and the backside activities of getting horses and riders to the ring. Any recommendations of where to stay? Close in? Far out? Is parking a problem? TIA

Parking is a nightmare, if you park on the grounds. Unless you're arriving in the very wee hours of the morning, spots are almost impossible to find. You're probably better off parking in the Tackeria shopping center lot and walking in.

I haven't found parking to be much of a problem during weekdays, just on weekends, or for big night classes.

The closest hotel is the Hampton Inn by the mall. There are a couple of hotels on Lake Worth Road by the Florida Turnpike that are a bit less expensive, and not really that much further away. If you're looking for something with a little more "character," check out the Royal Inn in Royal Palm. I believe most or all of the rooms there have a mini-fridge, and some rooms have a kitchenette, so you could save a little on eating out at restaurants.

You can't park on the grounds without a parking permit. You can park free of charge in the spectator parking which is very convenient and free except for special events at night.
