Rode my horse for first time in a year!
So excited! My horse had a year long visit with 'Dr. Green' due to some mystery lameness. He turned feral, so last month he came in to relearn basic manners like standing on cross ties, being brushed without kicking, not running me over, etc. The last few weeks he's been very good, so yesterday, on a whim I put his saddle on.

Today, I tacked him up and brought him into the ring for the first time in a year. I had a friend hold him while I leaned on the saddle, then put a foot in and put weight until he stood, then got on. My friend led us around for a couple minutes and I got off. I only stayed on a few minutes, because I could tell the voices in his head were telling him to do naughty things, but he was sooooooo good to ignore the voices and behave.

He stil needs shoes put back on before I can do any real work, but I just wanted to see what he would do. I don't know if he'll ever be back to the awesome hunter he used to be, but I'm so excited to start him back into work!
