Default Huh, the USDF got something right!

Just read the latest USDF Connection and was surprised to find that I enjoyed it. I have found them boring and filled with basic information and drivel for years.

This last one they acknowledged the hit they took on adding "dressage" in western gear on the cover and the articles in that magazine.

They published some GOOD information about the Olympics. They had the Hess article that was REALLY good translated and in the mag. And they covered the paralymics for dressage.

Wow, I'm surprised I'm going to say this, "Well done USDF Connection editors! You FINALLY got it right!"

(Okay, so maybe that's a bit of a backhanded compliment, but it's very true. I haven't liked it in a long time and found this one to be a stand out...and I can only hope they continue to find such interesting things to write about in the future.)

I've just been chucking them because the articles were so bad. I guess I'll crack this one open.

I think the Connection has become way too "in house" with its articles. If you don't spout the party line, they don't have much interest. I wish they could be more open to outside writers and viewpoints.

Velvet, glad you enjoyed the issue.

Norton, I'm not sure what you are referring to re. "outside writers and viewpoints." A USDF director writes a column each month, but otherwise the contributions come from freelance writers, judges, trainers, etc. However, feedback on the magazine from USDF members is always welcome!
