Default Flashpoint Boodstock - Virginia Tech Sport Horse Auction - Hunter prospects?

Virginia Tech's sport horse breeding program seems to get better every year. As a VT graduate I'd love to own a horse bred by the school but I'm pretty green when it comes to seeing talent in the youngsters. Which of these could have a future in the hunter ring?

I would think Lot 4, Maudlin VT 2011 Grey Filly (Mannhattan x Unmistaken Habit xx) would be a decent option, as Mannhattan has sired some very nice hunters

Probably LOT 15: Farina VT 2012 Bay Filly (Fielding x Obey xx) would be awesome as well.

LOT 1 is a Redwine filly - who probably is just fine and probably suited for a hunter but cribs.

VT animal/equine science alum here- splan said most reserves were $500. The auction website tells the reserves too I think
And the wise, Jack Daniels drinking, slow-truck-driving, veteran TB handler who took "no shit from no hoss Miss L, y'hear," said: "She aint wrapped too tight."

Hello all - I can't speak for all the horses offered in the sale, but there are a variety of reserves on the Virginia Tech horses.

Does there tend to be alot of last minute bidding, or are these prices typical?
I guess I expected higher bids at this point; seems like some very good deals.

Am I missing something about these horses, or is this indicitive of the sales prices currently?

Just curious, but how did you decide which horses you were interested in? Did you inspect the horses onsight at VT? Did you contact the owners? Did you do a prepurchase? Thanks.

I had a friend that went to VT over the weekend and inspected the horses that VT was offering. My boyfriends sister also went to VT for school and worked with some of the mares. Prior to deciding I did a little research on both the sire and dam. We did not do prepurchase exams on any of the horses. A little risky, but hopefully it will be worth it

Loved the video on #20, Amora, the young pony mare. Wonder if she sold for a mere $550. Such a sweetie she looks to be!
