I have two old dressage saddles that have never been used or even sat on, so, as far as condition goes, new, but chronologically old.
I am debating as to the best way to sell them.
I can take them to a local tack shop but they would let people take them and ride in them, which could quickly change their condition.
I could put them on E-Bay but have heard not so good feed back from people on COTH.
Any suggestions as to alternative ways of doing this ?
I live in Western Washington.
Other than selling them to a acquaintance, there is no perfect option for selling saddles. As you have so astutely pointed out, every option has it's downfall. Any place that would take them on consignment will allow people to take them and try them. There is no way to make eBay non-returnable, as you have seen from some of the threads on this board. Internet sites will sometimes take absolutely forever to sell.
I personally use eBay and have sold probably 10 saddles. Only one was problematic, and was quickly resolved.
I've never tried consignment, but the consignment shop at least takes some of the risk for you.
