Default Horse magazines for a novice adult?

Starting my Christmas shopping and want to get a horse magazine for DH who is a novice rider- baby hunters with jumper ambitions. I don't think the Chronicle is appropriate for him yet. Would love some suggestions.

Horse Illustrated covers a variety of topics at a novice-appropriate level.

I believe you may be looking for this title.

(Forgive me, it's late and when I saw the thread title I missed the "novice" part the first time )

Equus for horsekeeping stuff and Practical Horseman for riding.

I think that anything would be appropriate, as long as it's not Young Rider.

I would recommend Practical Horseman first, but I would recommed the Horse over Equus for horse care.

The Horse is the best on equine care. Equus was at one time some years ago quite good, not so much any more.

Practical Horseman, while not nearly as good as it once was or as highly regarded is still probably the best choice for something strictly hunter/jumper.
