I wanted to take the time to thank everyone for all the breeding advice passed down through these boards!
As a first time breeder I jumped into everything head first, not really knowing what I was doing.
Everyone here is so helpful towards us newbies.
Kim, the stallion owner, has also been a HUGE help.

Swanky not only scored premium and was the highest scored foal at her inspection but I just found out that she was also the American Trakehner Association's highest scoring foal NATION WIDE!!

She co shared the high score but *if* there were a tie breaker she would win due to her movement score.

Congrats and I do agree - she is quite lovely. Small point of correction though (just because I'm a stickler for these things). Your filly scored 8/9/9 and the other (very nice) colt scored a 9/9/8. Those marks if they are listed correctly (and I know they are for the colt) are: conformation/movement/general impression. So both of them scored the same for gaits - any tie would be broke by the inspector. But ties aren't done as different inspectors inspect the different foals at different sites. .

Again, she is lovely and you should be rightfully proud!!

I believe it's [impression/foundation/movement] for the ATA.
but yes, for foals, there is not an over all "champion". Ties are not broken.

We actually talked about why she scored an 8 for "impression". All of the other kids showed the more typical dished face. Swanky has the TB head.

Actually the mare was up for sale for several months and I received no bites.
Finally I had a friend ask to lease her.
And now that her first ATA baby has done so well I will most likely keep her and just lease her out until I'm ready for her again.
That being said, when it comes to horses, everything is always for sale--

Not sure I will go Trakehner again--though it's hard to look another direction when you KNOW that there is a specific cross that works so well.

But I have a fondness for Roc USA. I can't deny that.

As she pointed out though, there is no tie breaker for foals that were presented at different inspections and scored by different inspectors and I am not even sure that the ATA has an award for "highest scoring foal"?

But as a person that has calculated many inspection scores over the years I have found that an 8 to one inspector could be a 9 to another so one pretty much has to judge per inspection site. Agree! I was telling Kim that she hit that inspection just at the right moment in her growth. Now with her butt high and fuzzy winter coat she looks like a big fat pony.
Inspections are no different than dressage tests. It's all about the day's bell curve.

I do wish there were a way to see the pictures of the different foals from all of the inspections.

Joe, I thought the same thing about the Graditz *E* gransdire coming thru the sire line on both these foals. I saw Baratheon @ the convention and he was absolutely stunning.
