Update -searching for friend - Sunday p.m. update post#18
Carry over from the OT thread (mods I hope this is ok)... -search crews have now been out for 48 hrs. No sign of friend as of yet. ATV teams are being pulled in for the night and the state police helicopter had to return to base (fuel). Dive teams are in the pond near the house and should be done searching in the next 20 minutes. We will resume searching in the morning.
For those that asked about the beagles: they were in the house when he went missing. They had been trying to find homes for them before the house closing next week. One has been placed. The two remaining (siblings) still need homes, if anyone wants 2 lovable beagles.
Jingles for his elderly parents. They were just told that he is missing,

More jingles. How is your daughter dealing? Still out riding the fields?
A good horseman doesn't have to tell anyone...the horse already knows.
Might be a reason, never an excuse...

Just a thought, but, I wonder if the Beagles would track him?

DD and DS both hiked/rode 25+ acres. Both were also allowed to skip orchestra practice so that they could watch the dive team at the pond. Both are doing ok (we have had many conversation over the last year about "Uncle Donny" and his physical/mental issues.). Farm life requires real life conversations. We don't hide things from them, but instead try to let them be involved at a level they understand.

Unfortunately we had 6 inches of snow. I'm not a dog trainer, but we've been told that the likelihood of finding a scent is slim. There is discussion of bringing in cadaver dogs tomorrow or Sunday.

CS I'm so glad you started this thread, I was just about to pm the mods to see if it would be ok. Texas sized jingles that your friend is in a bar somewhere on a bender, not in the snow.

Update: All search operations were halted due to a major dairy fire (at least 6 alarms & water tankers from 15+ towns)
http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/centr...z/-/index.html
Town police/fire crews are stretched thin. At the moment the plan is to regroup in the morning.

Thank you for starting this thread. I have been thinking a lot about you and your friend. I PM'd the mods earlier today asking if we could be kept updated. I'm sure that they will let this thread remain open. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I also hope that no people or animals are hurt in that huge dairy fire.

For those of us who aren't privvy, can the OP tell us what happened? How did the guy go missing and what is the story behind it?
His name is Airborne - because he usually is!

Update: Sunday p.m. It is with mixed emotion that I update this post tonight. The body of our friend was found late this afternoon. In so much as this is not the ending we hoped for, we are thankful that there is closure for the family.
Thank you for those who have jingled, offered assistance and advice. It is very much appreciated!
November is the month of thanksgiving; tonight I give thanks for having a COTH community of support!

Closure. Perhaps the best that could be hoped for in this sad situation.
