She is beautiful and has a good person to help her "chill" as she gains more experience to be the true horse she is. Congratulations!!!

She's super cute. One of these days I will catch you at Rocking Horse or FHP. I got my OTTB mare the same week you got Jess so I always like to see how far along you are. We've had some physical setbacks so not quite as far along as you guys. But my girl is on the mend and we are making some progress, so I hope to be in your position soon.

    Default One year later!

So it's been just about a year since we brought Jess home and I'm so happy with her! I don't know that she'll be MY horse (my heart horse had her baby and seems sound now so she's coming back into work)
But I'm thrilled to at least be along for the ride in Jess's transformation from race horse to event horse. Yesterday was her second recognized horse trial. The first one she had a green steering mistake on XC but yesterday she was just amazing and came home with the win in open novice!

She traveled all alone to the Ocala Horse Trial, stood by herself on the trailer (and even tied to it) all day, and MOSTLY acted like a professional all day, in spite of the rain. There were some antics at the trailer when other horses started worrying about the bullwhips they were popping at the carnival going on across the field, but other than that, she was just cool and calm in spite of nasty weather....

Here's the SJ video but we joke that after this, she won't know what to do if she goes to a horse show where it's NOT raining.

***Her full sister was also a winner yesterday in a 4k claiming race. Wish I had the resources for another project.

That's what I mean about probably not a horse for me... She'd be wasted with me. Can't afford to keep three and compete long term but I also hate to let her go because I don't know when I'll have the chance to own another like her.

I know this is a long-running thread, but I'm just catching up with it for the first time. (Had a lengthy COTH hiatus and I'm back from lurking in a new name...)
I remember riding this filly a few times when she was a baby at the track. I'm so thrilled someone ignored the redheaded mare strike against her and gave her a chance at a different career.
I've wondered where she ended up whenever I saw others from that barn still at the track.
    Good catch and congratulations.
