You say birth control is a personal choice and government shouldn't pay for it. What about pregnancy care? That's a personal choice. You're making personal moral (most likely religous) judgement about birth control. How do you feel about Viagra?

It's been proved that access to low cost and affordable birth control lowers abortions. Why would you be against lowering the abortion rate?
Nope, in this case my religion has nothing to do with birth control costs. I find it incredibly selfish that people want others to pay for them to play. BC pills are not expensive. Condoms are not expensive. Why should insurance even come into play? Pregnancy care-that is making sure that someone is born as healthy as possible, and generally there is additional premium (huge premium) associated with it. There is a caveat to this though-if bc or abortion is deemed medically NEEDED (not a work around or convenience ) but a true need-that would fall under different parameters. I am not heartless, I am just trying to make sure that money is spent responsibly so it goes where it is actually needed.

Viagra for its current usage? Nope, don't think it should be covered. If it was for the circulatory problems someone mentioned, then that would be different. Recreational? Nope, not even.

Personal mea culpa here. I knew it was SCOTUS, have no idea why I put Congress-cold medicine maybe?

As for lowering the abortion rates, I am all for that. I just have some different ideas on it than others apparently.

Free healthcare that costs more than the previous healthcare ? It is called health insurance, ever had it ? You actually pay what is called "premiums" every month and in return they pay a portion or all of you healthcare needs or for birthcontrol all of your costs.

Yes, I think a basic math class might be a good idea along with a class that explains how health insurance works since I will never understand how "free healthcare that costs more than the previous healthcare" relates to any healthcare reform.
    oh heavens. hunny.

yes sweets I have insurance. I am happy to pay for it AND pay for my BC/condoms should I need them. I am a little ticked my rates went up but not everyone gets a ribbon and life is not fair.

What I and you fail to understand is how "free healthcare" became a program that fines anyone without healthcare.

You are aware that is the current situation?

We should support abortion wholeheartedly. In a generation or two? Fewer Dems!!

Hunny, I am aware of the requirement to purchase healthcare and the penalty, penalties usually encourage people to comply. Also, the math that is involved is that the more younger people with health insurance means that rates will not have to increased by the insurance companies since more younger healthy people lower the costs for the insurance companies.

I do agree with the need for basic math so that people can understand how the market works. Oh, and my rates went up 180% 5 years ago, but I guess that would be on then President bush....

Jets mom, that is why I can not support the liberal agenda. Plain and simple.

However, I am ex-military. Could have something to do with it.

Yet oddly enough, all TRUTH. Especially about Detroit. It's been run by Democrats alone since at minimum the Coleman Young administration. They did that ALL by themselves. Now it's deader than disco, and honestly? No one cares, and no one should. About the only real losses if it all burned down would be the DIA, the acoustics of Orchestra Hall, and the Maritime Sailor's Cathedral.

That's liberals for you. It's okay to say whatever you want (including making jokes about the Special Olympics like their Dear Leader). The minute you say anything that might twinge their sensitive feewings? You're SO MEEEEEAN.

Regarding blue-state Mass teachers? I have a very, very broad sample of your public-school students I've dealt with. If that's "good", you have serious problems. Not that it's much different from any other public school students....

Thank you Leah for that line. I spewed and laughed...something I have not done in days. I love the blue states essay also Noms...we are trying to figure out where to move if we lose our home...somewhere more red for sure.

Great job...loving your posts...Gnalli, katarine, Noms, Minnie...all of you. You have way more patience than I do. I've been sick on top of all of this with a cold so not feeling well and my temper is a bit shorter than normal...better just to not get too involved.

Speaking of sequestration and defense cuts...my husband works for defense here in Tidewater VA. We are pretty worried to say the least. It's not easy to start over when you are over 50. Trying not to worry too much but it's hard considering Obama's history of not compromising and not really caring about who he ruins to achieve his agenda...ie the coal industry.

We are worried too...dh JUST got a job working at the Pentagon this week. Between the sequestration and the election of Kaine, it could be a short lived job.

It cracks me up how the party of "tolerance" is happy to tolerate any ideas as long as they are in line with the Liberal agenda, but if you hold an opposing viewpoint you are an ugly, hateful person who wants to see slavery reinstated and all women barefoot, pregnant and back in the kitchen. Lol. I would have voted for a panda if that was who was on the ticket opposing Obama and his reckless spending, amateur in chief ways. Oh, I don't like Obama's policies so I must be a racist too.

Ha! Noms post wasn't tongue-in-cheek? Your post illustrates the degree of bias exhibited by the left. Hatred by whom?? From what I've seen, the left uses the word "Hate" much more than those on the right or Independents. Go figure.

Exactly. The vitriol the left expresses toward the right would be funny if it weren't so sad. They truly can't even see that they are hypocrites, and if you point it out to them they just call you hateful and mean. Lol. The ugliness is on BOTH sides. Ugly extreme right wingers, ugly extreme libs. But to hear them tell it, only republicans say mean things.

I'm sorry to hear you are in a similar situation. My husband is a retired Army officer as well and his skills are somewhat hard to change at 53 years old. No idea what we'll do if this happens. There are a lot of other things to consider such as our animals and we all know the condition of the horse industry.

I had a conversation yesterday that sort of summed up all the frustration that I feel and many others who voted for Romney feel. I voted for my livelihood/home and for the person who I felt could help the economy the most and get people back to work as Obama's stated agenda is to cut Defense spending dramatically..which of course means those who work in defense will now have to make a living some other way...just like coal and all those who support that industry. We all know with a real unemployment rate of over 14% that doing that isn't going to be easy. So anyway, the stakes are pretty high..big issues all of them.

So I go out yesterday and run errands and am confronted by a young woman I know pretty well. She works for me part time. She is 26, single but lives with a boyfriend and lives in her parents home as they have no means to move out and get their own place, she is college educated but can only find a part time job making $10/hr. So she tells me she can't understand why people are so upset that they lost...in her words it's "like a funeral" and that a friend of hers is not speaking to her any more due to her vote for Obama. She tells me she voted not for jobs or higher pay or a better economy or any of that but for abortion rights which she may or may not need one day. She seems to not care about what will happen one day when Mommy and Daddy can't take care of her and she can't make enough to house and feed herself. I just told her that while I understand that her issue might be important to her a lot of people have their entire livelihoods on the line and now feel a lot more threatened than they did before. I get a blank look. It was about then the I had to tell her that I sincerely hope Obama can do what he's promised to avoid sequestration because her other part time job depends on it. I got an odd look from her and I think the importance of this election finally sunk in. I hope so...

I guess that sums up a lot of the frustration. I know I'm no more deserving than anyone else to have a home and a livelihood but we have worked so very hard to get where we are over our lifetimes. I think Romney understood that it's stupid to shoot off your foot to spite your toe in issues like coal and defense and putting millions more out of work, but I get the impression that Obama simply does not care how many more people he bankrupts on his way to achieving his social agenda.
