Default Micklem - new deisgn, no plastic in nosepiece?

I just received my fourth Micklem bridle, and this one does NOT have a stiff nosepiece with breakable plastic inside, it has a very thick flexible leather nosepiece. This is a multibridle. The cavesson is padded on the inside as well, which I don't remember being on the first mulitbridle I owned. (which went with the horse when the horse was sold, so I cannot compare)

I have had three other Micklems, one multibridle and two competitions. This is the first one I've received that looked like this.

I think the leather on this one is nicer, too.

Anyone else seen this? Was this an advertised change? I know that several people had been disappointed that the plastic inside there bridles had broken thus rendering the bridle useless.

No one else have one like this? I'm trying it on a greenie today as a lunge cavesson.

Hmm.. I'm confused. Do you mean that your older Micklem has a plastic core to the noseband? To hold the shape? Mine is a few years old, I don't think it has that.

Mine is a few years old also (multibridle) and does not have any plastic either, apart from the bit clips which I removed.

I ordered one a year ago to try and it was made in India. Are they not made in India now?
