Thought I'd try to lighten things up a bit with a funny story from years ago.
My mom convinced me to work the polls one year.
It was a primary election, not a presedential year, so turnout was low. My job was to lead the people to the voting booth and prime it for their party.
I'm telling you, I think maybe 40 people turned out - and we were there 6:30 AM to about 9:00 PM. It paid all of $75 for the entire ordeal.
So the next day, a friend of mine and I were at the mall and taking the elevator to the floor we wanted. We were chatting about the election, and just as the doors opened for a man, I was saying "It was the easiest $75 I ever earned, but I'll never do it again".
The look on that man's face was priceless. I will never forget that moment.
