I will start, I have a weanling by Apiro and I loved him so much I re-bred!

He was a bit of a brat while at his moms side, but now he is a big sweetheart with a ham of a personality.
He added more bone and height.
He does have a hunter trot, but so does his dam
From what I have seen he has a big loopy canter and he has jumped over things in my padlock with good form, but he is only a weanling so he could change.

I am bringing him to the Royal this weekend, I hope he will do well and make his dad proud.

I have a weanling by Apiro as well. and all I can say is WOW. Apiro definitely adds bone, seems to throw height although my mare was already 16.2h herself. My colt is a dream to work with, so easy, sweet and smart. he has a great trot-daisy cutter, ground covering and as he gets bigger his trot is getting more dainty. And he certainly has a rocking, huge stridge canter, something that was obvious from a few days old. I haven't seen him jump anything other than a muck tub so I can't comment on that, but Apiro's athletic ability over fences has seemed to carry on into his older offspring from what I have seen. My colt won top colt at his AHS inspection and will be raised as a stallion prospect. All in all, I could not have been more pleased with what Apiro gave me!

I have a 3 year old Apiro gelding. Gorgeous trot AND canter. Super temperament and great conformation. He's a keeper.

Thanks I love him! I measured him at just over 15h at 6months old :O
I am hoping for a keeper filly this time around!

What type of mare are you thinking of using if you don't mind me asking

My friend has an Apiro, long-yearling, out of a TB mare. He added substance, but did not lengthen the topline (not saying he should or shouldn't, just making an observation based on only one breeding).

Very nice personality on the foal, for what a baby's personality is worth. Quiet.

The Apiro's trot is more huntery, flatter. He's always had an amazing walk. The dam (TB) also has a real nice hunter movement. The C.Quito colt has the flashiest trot on the place, lots more knee action and suspension. He was born light on his front end, I swear. They are both really nice horses I think!

Absolutely love our Apiro colt from this year. Premium GOV colt. Apiro added bone, height, and personality. Great trot and fabulous canter (mom also has good movement), and from how he jumps the logs out in the field I can't wait to ride this one myself!

Real question is, how do they improve and not improve on say a fine boned tb, or a old style wb mare?

I myself have a very fine boned tb mare that is very flat kneed, so I am looking for different attributes then someone who has a thicker style wb mare that needs refining and such.

That's tough! I would say that they are pretty equal, however the Crown Affair filly is a bit more modern in type and therefore seems lighter on her feet than the C. Quito colt.

this is the key...from everything I have seen, the mare is very influential in the mechanics of movement passed on to the foal.

he was premuim and all that his dam is a Oldenburg Gov and Hanoverian approved main mare book in Gov and the highest in Hanoverian, don't know what thats called.

But who ever said its also about the mare, match the stallion to your mare for the best possible cross, its about what you want and your thought on how to get there, thats the way we have done our matching.

We have had 2 Aprio's and both are incredible in every way. Both may have been a little more sensitive as foals but not at all in a bad way, just intelligent and had that extra something that made you want to look at them. The one of ridding age has proven to be very easy to ride!

They are out of different mares, one a TB and the other a TK.
I have heard only to use him on a light mare but honestly I would have to say he did not add that much bone to either.

Also as you can see the 3 year old is a fantastic mover and I understand he has been recently sold to Kenny Wheeler. The 2 year old is also a fatastic mover and probably could be just as sucessful in the dressage ring. She was also bought by a professional who says she is super easy and smart.

He is definetly one of a favorite stallions!! We can't wait to use him again !
