Within the groups, they are in order of preference. Group 3 is the top group, group 2 the middling group, and group 1 is the bottom group.

I'm the sadist who thinks that counter cantering and hand galloping in a flat class sounds like fun.

Are the judges just standing on the one side not watching the other parts of the ring?

I was wondering the same thing. Seems like a savvy competitor could really use that to their advantage. Having a moment? Circle in the back until you have it sorted then make your pass.

Schaefer is 18. I would imagine today is the last day of her (VERY successful!!!) junior career.

She is a freshman at college, and I believe a valuable member of her NCAA riding team.

I have wondered what it would be like to judge a finals with GM.

Is it a 50/50 experience or does judge #2 simply go along without truly disagreeing?

Somehow I cannot see Hap saying, "But George, I do not agree with that ranking. I think that AAA was FAR better than BBB, and that CCC should not be in the top group at all."

And GM saying, "Good points Hap. I was mistaken. Let's go with your rankings."

I'm glad to see Lauren Tyree had a nice round. She has always been one of my favorites to watch. Her horse, Salt Lake, I believe is young and not an easy mount.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if George got to choose his co-judge, or if not, if he declined the offer to judge with someone who didn't tend to share his opinions on correct riding.

Who just had the swap off the counter canter at the end of the ring? Black horse with a white blaze?

And LHU, we were saying the exact same thing about GHM and HH!

Anyone think the judges saw Tori step off that counter lead in the corner?

I think Tori Colvin just had a bunch of swaps on the counter lead at the end of the ring...don't know if they saw it. Has anyone else seen any big errors from any other group? Isn't the flat phase 50%? Which would mean some big shifts...

I'm sure they saw it, it was on their side. Such a bummer
