I've just spent some time on Cornell's Project Feederwatch, updating my information to get ready for this years watch, which starts on November 10th. Last year was my first year doing it and, not only was it fun, but I learned so much about the birds in my yard and, I really felt like I was helping their research.
If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. The project runs every Winter from early November to the beginning of April. You can sign up here http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/
It would be fun if there were a bunch of us and we could get together every OT day and compare notes.
But I am happy you enjoyed doing this and you are doing again.
The best part of this program is that over the years you see how your yard differs year to year and eventually you will hear how the data shows what the trends are. Certain birds swing in and out of regions based on may factors of weather , success of the nesting season and food source.
