Any recommendations in the $100 range for Queen size? I don't care for the ones that make you hot - slept on one at a friend's house and I thought it was quite uncomfortable. What I am looking for is freshening up an older mattress.
Do you want memory foam specifically or just a more comfortable bed? I love the eggshell foam mattress toppers. I find them super comfortable and inexpensive. I put one on our guest room bed and everyone, every single person who has slept in that bed, which is a good-quality mattress from Costco but not top of the line (no pillow top), has commented on how comfortable it is. So I bought one for my bed -- love it.
I think they are most effective on a firm mattress, though, so if your older mattress is saggy or soft, the foam may not help.

Reason: yet another typo
I am kind of in the same situation as you OP. I have a bed that I like, except that I get very hot in it. Add the 65 lbs cuddle monster that has to touch my legs, and the 15lbs cat that sleeps on the other side of me I get really toasty in the bed.
My current mattress is only 2 years old and it has a pillow top that is really sinky. I dont really like sleeping IN my mattress, but the dog, cat and I get so hot that we sink into it.
I replaced my memory foam topper with a latex topper. I too found the memory foam a little hot and it had a sinking feeling to it. The latex toppers are a little more pricey, but well worth the money. I ordered an Invigo topper off of Amazon. I have had it for several months and am very happy with it.
