Agree. The marestare board has all this annoying stuff and I can't stand to look at it. I makes everyone seem 12 years old.

I don't care if someone wants to respond to me with a thumbs up or down, I don't want a notification about it.

I just saw a thread where the original poster had obviously given a "thumbs down" to every single person who'd even remotely disagreed with her.
Very classy.

The longer it goes on, the more I hate it. It's to the point were if I see a thread with a lot of thumbing, I don't even want to engage because then I'll get a bunch of thumbs (good or bad, it doesn't matter to me) and then more notifications.

Testing, testing...1...2...3
I've noticed that when I get notifications on threads I start (perhaps even just TU/TD on the first post?) there is a title attached to the notification, in addition to the number.
I wonder if you go advanced on replies, and then put in a title (you can't use a title in quick reply) if you get that title on your notifications?
Let's test it here. TU/TD this post and we will see

Ayup
Yes, indeed.
Go Advanced with your replies and put something in the title field, and that title will show up in your TU/TD notifications.
Sort of a hassle--I know I always use quick reply. It would be nice it it would default to the first 30 characters of the post or something, if there is nothing in the title field. But at least there IS a way to have a text reminder of what post # 6661149 is...

I finally got it. It's a POPULARITY contest, just like high school, or the last election. Keeping score is not just for coliseum sports anymore I guess. I want an icon with the thumb in the nose. Better than sitting on it....

Coming in late to the party...since I just found out you can't delete the notifications list please insert thumbs down here on the Thumbs Up/Down decision. I can't stand clutter on my page and I want to be able to delete the notifications list. I can deal with the thumbs business, but not the clutter their usage creates. Me no likey!
ETA: I placed two dots at the beginning and end of the "please insert thumbs down here" phrase, and ended up with the vomit icon. Not what I was aiming for.

wow..... so someone is now following me around giving the thumbs down to many of my posts - even ones where it makes no sense!
what is the point? it doesn't affect user ratings, it doesn't really *do* anything.....
so my vote is "liking" something is good but i give a big fat thumbs down to thumbs down
