I just finished all my paperwork for my board package for the officer selection board for the Air Force. After some back and forth over whether they were going to give me a waiver I needed, they finally said yes and so I've spent the last week trying to get everything done so it can all get in on time. I've got my interview on Thursday and then just a basic physical.... then the waiting begins! Board doesn't meet until January and selection results don't go out until Feb!
Enlisted Air Force here. When I tried to go officer I ended up going through the Army because the Air Force had a 13% selection rate and the Army was at 45%. Still got turned down though, and planning on re-applying once I get to my final Duty Station in a year or so.
Worry, doubt, fear and despair are the enemies which slowly bring us down to the ground and turn us to dust before we die.
Enlisted Air Force here, hubby as well We love it! Best of luck on your board selection, what job are you trying to get picked up in?
I'm going for CSO/Nav, rated job. At the moment really was an F15E, but once you get to CSO training they go over all the airframes, flying schedules, etc so we'll see if that changes my mind. It's definitely a male dominated field though.
I've got good AFOQT scores though (second highest of all the packages my recruiter is sending to the next board): Pilot:92/Nav:91/AcademicAptitude:92/Verbal:88/Quantitative:86
I go for my interview on Thursday. Then just need to hit MEPS for basic physical.
Best of luck in the flying world. I didn't cut it although I was a non-flier classified as a flier. Air Traffic control was the first job and now I'm a 6C0X hate it on the military side but on the outside it will be worth it.
