    Default Epiphany

I had an epiphany tonight. The longer I spend in the dressage world the more experts I meet who know everything there is to know about dressage. With all these experts, isn't it amazing we don't have a plethora of riders and horses to chose from to make up an gold medal Olympic team?

A lot of those experts don't show because all the judges are biased.

Alibi, I guess we're alone in feeling this way.

Maybe they are out riding their horses instead of being glued to the internet.

Ah! Velvet! Those are the ones that "are all hat and no cattle", but considering they spent megabucks on that hat, they gotta wear it somewhere, even if they spend most of their time "talking through their hat".
Some riders change their horse, they change their saddle, they change their teacher; they never change themselves.

They don't really know what they're talking about, as clearly I'm the expert.

Y'know, because I can get my 1st level horse doing airs above ground. And the judges ARE biased, because they don't give appreciative scores since they don't realize he's actually just showing them how advanced he is.

    Duh.
My horse is a dressage diva so I don't have to be.

BTW, my epiphany happened at the barn. And, no, netg does not board there...at least I don't think so...

Well, I've been at many barns, in many locations across the country, and I have to say this is a common denominator. Not EVERYONE is this way, but it seems the majority are and I can say that I do understand some of it. It's a monkey-see monkey-do thing. If the instructors they've known were insecure and behaved in this fashion, quite often the students do as well.

Darn. I just got serious. And here this was entertaing to at least a few of us!

You gotta love that the western dressage topic has more interest than one that points out a flaw in the logic some people live by.

You all are just big meanies. I can pretend that I'm THE Dressage goddess doing my training level test, moving up to PSG by the end of the summer, talking out of my helmet, err top hat, if I want to.

I don't care what people think of themselves or talk about, as long as they don't start acting like they're my trainer and telling me what I ought to do, try, etc...

Can we please develop some sort of universal symbol for "No Unsolicited Advice?"

Oh dear. Thread not getting enough attention?

Maybe it's because your "epiphany" is very old news for most of us?
