Yes, my OTTB chews off the mane of my little Arab, Rocky. This is happening outside -- while they roam around semi-free on 20 acres of pasture. (not a case of nervously chewing on someone in the next stall.)
Now, this is not really a big deal except -- the granddaughter has fallen in love with Little Rock and wants to primp and brush and shine him up. His scraggle-mane is not making the granddaughter happy.
Any ideas here? I'm thinking that pulling his mane would be the best solution to spruce up his look right now -- since he literally looks like the little brother whose big sister took the scissors to his hair while playing all-too-quietly in the next room!
