Default Copyright info for warmblood brand symbols?

Does anyone with authority know if warmblood breed brand symbols for any of the warmblood breed registries OTHER than OLD/NA are copyrighted?

I have been trying to find this information, but none of the registry websites I have looked at seem to have the information regarding copyrights except as it relates to articles published on their sites. I have looked at German Oldenburg Verband, Trakehner Verband, KWPN and Holsteiner Verband.

I am interested in having some items made with some of the (primarily European registry) brand symbols on it and I do not wish to get into any legal trouble regarding copyright infringement.

They all have their logos under copyright, even hanoveraner verband which you didn't include.

Do you know where I can find that information in writing? We have done a web search on the international copyright registry information sites and do not get any hits other than for some of the breed registries in the USA, but most of them (other then OLD/NA) are expired or for other reasons are no longer shown as being valid.

You need to be looking for trademarks, not copyright.

Trademark vs copyright infringement aside --

In the US, copyright applies the moment a creative work is in fixed form. Period.

The work does not have to be accompanied by a copyright statement or a copyright notice; copyright applies anyway, automatically. The copyright does not have to be registered for copyright to apply.

It's in fixed form = it's under copyright.

The only exceptions are if it copyright is explicitly released or the copyright period has expired.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, but go to copyright.gov and all this information is easy to find. I have no idea on how trademark plays in to any of this.

We have looked using both the words trademark and copyright, but the results were the same. I want to do this correctly and legally.

Contact the registries and ask them if they are, or if you can use them. Which is what you should do anyway, regardless of what you find online or hear from anyone on this forum...

I don't know about copyrights or trademarks, but you can buy saddle pads and jewelry and sew on emblems and probably other things from most of the tack shops as well as all of the registries - all aready embroidered.
