I have a 9YO lab w/ suspected short bowel syndrome after losing 30 cm of small intestine.
Initially he was on Royal Canin GI Low Fat (Rx). Went back on to reg food but has been going downhill. Vet prescribed Hills I/D Low Fat for now because that's what she had on hand. I'm in the process of researching, and I think I want to go back to the RC...would be interested in thoughts on that.
Regardless of which food we go with, they're both Rx. And we're moving in about 2 weeks. I don't have an established veterinarian in the new state, and I don't want to be limited to what any particular veterinarian carries so I'm looking to buy online.
Anyone have recommendations for cost effective sites? Feeding something so BIG is awfully pricey. I am currently feeding a mix of canned and dry. I've found a few sites, but they aren't any less expensive than buying from MSU or my vet plus there's shipping. I thought for sure there would be some kind of bargain-ish place out there.
A good horseman doesn't have to tell anyone...the horse already knows.
Does PetSmart still carry Hills? PetSmart seems to be everywhere, so that would likely be a safe bet.
I won't touch Royal Canin. Their kidney diet killed my cat. Lest you think I'm exaggerating, they had a recall shortly after My vet tried to work with them on it, but they totally blew us off. They did not care one iota.
