Default Today I Rode Like I Knew I Could Ride

And was rewarded with a soft, supple, cooperative horse. I managed to avoid the rotten stinky spot I suspect was lurking inside him and diffused and corrected each little avoidance in a way he found fair and agreeable. I had a ride to really be proud of and the horse I believed I was building all along. We each had a satisfying experience and took turns doing what we wanted to do most. I got to canter, and he got to gallop and we did not have to argue about which was which in between. We walked back to the barn in complete harmony. That makes twice this year. Now if I could just get in that frame of mind more frequently.

And as a bonus, he didn't even spook at the bicyclist that wizzed by. THAT is a first.
Why is it that a woman will forgive homicidal behavior in a horse, yet be highly critical of a man for leaving the toilet seat up?

Fantastic! Great for you!! I love having rides like that, when it just feels like everything comes together perfectly. You just can't beat that feeling!

Realised today that evidently, it has either taken me 38 years of steady practice to become an effective rider on a consistent basis, or 6 years to get this horse trained to walk-trot-canter in a straight line. Not sure which is better....
