Horse shopping in West Grove PA
My trainer is hoping to be going horse shopping around West Grove PA. She is looking for horses for a talented teen, to get experience at Prelim and maybe Inter.. she is a hard worker and dedicated, the horse would have excellent care. Where should she look? I have pulled up PD, Jeannie and Boyd's websites, also Bruce Davidson and Sally Cousins. Who else is located within a 1-2 hour drive? We are from the Intermountain West so want to cover most of the bases. They will also consider a nice young horse, the girl has access to a good trainer and motivated parents. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm in love with Magic Replica. Saw him at Plantation and he is THE CUTEST HORSE EVER! (Although probably not what you are looking for).

You should get in touch with some members of the young rider teams and find out who is looking for new homes for their horses. We had the perfect horse but practically gave him away.

In addition to those good ideas Schramm equestrian, Molly Rosin and Jane Sleeper. if you are willing to drive appoximately 2 hours, Kate Chadderton and Steph Butts and Valerie Vizcarrando. Check with Mary Hazzard, Phillip Dutton, Jennie Brannigan right in the area. A couple hours the other way you get to Doug Payne, Holly Payne, Sinead Halpin, Matt Flynn. i am sure I have missed many. This really is event horse central.
OTTBs rule, but spots are good too!

Years ago I once went out with Courtney Cooper.
She was very professional and I can't even remember how many horses I sat on in one day.
What she does is arrange it all so that all you have to do is show up.
I went to Jane Sleeper's barn, tried two horses at Boyd's, a third who lived nearby but wasn't from their barn. Two other trainers who I now forget, as well as a couple of private amateur owners' farms and horses.
So it accomplished a lot with very little leg work in terms of organizing on my part.
I also found her to be honest in terms of giving me her opinion as well as being accepting of my own. So when I sat on a "nice" horse and said, "not for me" there wasn't any negative commentary.
Absolutely loved one of the horses I tried but didn't buy him. I ended up being approached by someone very local to me who had basically stopped riding and offered me her experienced horse for free.
