    Default sponsors...

Are you able to have amateur status and have sponsors? There are a couple of small businesses and friends who have voiced that they would like to chip in small amounts towards entries, and the feed store I use has offered to donate a bag of shavings.

Anyone done this type of small-scale sponsorship?

Any sponsorship, regardless of amount or type, qualifies the recipient rider as a professional.
However, if you all had a team - like the YR, or the ARP - an entity could sponsor the team and it would not effect your pro/amateur status.

    If you're under 18, doesn't matter. You're an amateur.
