agreed. This scene always comes up when we discuss riding (and jumping!) side saddle.

incidentally, there is a second Mame book, Around the World with Auntie Mame (never a play or movie, as far as I know). I loved both books. I have always wanted to be a martini aunt!

Cat prefers Ms Russel, too! I think she played Mame with a little more bite.

Shucks, I thought this thread was about finding Aunt Esther's wild sister, Mame.
No wonder Aunt Esther is so persnickety.

This is too funny. This movie was just on cable last week and I watched the fox hunting scene and though, I bet the Ladies of COTH would love this...

"Look the horse in the eye with a masterful gaze."
I own it on DVD (Rosalind version, not Lucille.) It is one of my favorite movies. If I knew how to record a snippet from the DVD, I would definitely record the hunting scene
If wishes were horses then beggars would ride...

I watch it every Thanksgiving eve.

I have not seen the movie, but I could see using the quote, "Mother of Jefferson Davis, she's passin' the fox!" , when someone is getting run away with on their "trusty" steed.
