The pulled/braided mane is the norm for the hunter pleasure classes now also.

For many of the sporthorse classes there isn't qualification required to show at nationals.

Just off the top of my head, the classes not requiring prior qualification are jumping, sporthorse hunter, walk/trot, versatility, parade horse. There are a few others but the best place to start is to look up the prize list for the show. It is available on the Morgan Grand National website.

Big day tomorrow for us. We have our last two championship classes. I have a rider in the hunter pleasure world championship for riders 13 and under which is the last class in the morning in the coliseum.

I then have my walk/trot classic equitation riders showing in her world championship for riders 11 and under. She placed 3rd today in her 9 and under grand national class and even earned a first place vote from one of the judges. She rides a very, very tough horse...he was a former park horse and at age 18 he is still quite energetic and doesn't want to walk. The horse is a beast but takes such good care of his little 7 year old rider. She missed her diagonal second direction and didn't pick it up right away....she was too relieved that her horse actually walked that she forgot to check, LOL.

The youth club I help run is also up for the Club of the year contest, and six of my little students participated in the junior judging and they have their awards banquet tomorrow at lunch to see how they did.

We are having a fantastic show and a great time!

I need everyone to cheer for my riders!

we are hoping to ribbon in that class, as of this afternoon there were 15 showing back in the championship but it may have increased as entries will still be accepted until 7am.

not sure how many are entered in her class. I didn't see the other age groups so I don't know how big of a group could be involved. There are three others in the class wearing blue suits and helmets. The barn mom that shot video of the class actually recorded the wrong rider for part of the time....LOL, but just look for the horse that seems to be the toughest to ride out there and that will most likely be him. He takes such good care of his little rider (they even trail ride) but when he is in the arena he just has too much fun!

Congrats, Amwrider! I love me a nice Morgan, whether they're saddle seat or sport horse.

Me, back in 2007, as a redhead with no helmet on an EP Morgan: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...0410_447_n.jpg

Now, I've dyed my hair black, always wear a helmet, and decided to give my love full-time to dressage (again!).

He is cute! He reminds me of my neice's horse.

The show is over, the Park Horse Stake was incredible and the judges called all five entries back to the rail after they stripped the llineup. All five worked out again at the trot. Very deep and exciting class!

Today we ended up with a 9th in the Hunter Pleasure 13 and under World Championship class, and a 7th in the walk/trot Classic equitation for riders 11 and under World Championship. Very sad to see everyone tearing down their lounges and tackrooms and packing up. We are packed, just need to load equipment and horses in the morning and hit the road.
