As somebody who has co-hosted 4 keurings for the KWPN-NA I am in total agreement with Home Again Farm and Sonesta.... it requires a lot of work and dedication and a fairly large wallet.
We always had to rent the facility because we didn't have the facilities at our farms to accommodate 20 to 30 horses, and so we used Morven Park in Leesburg twice, and then Hedgeland in Waterford, VA. And yes, you do need facilities that allow safe passage for all the aspects of an inspection, including free jumping and that translates into lots of volunteers to make sure things are set up properly in addition to proper facilities. In short, it's not something for the faint of heart or wallet!
I probably "donated" somewhere around $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 every year we did this and am now of the opinion that it's somebody else's turn.
Mary-Lou, one of these days we'll have our own private inspection just for the heck of it! It'll be on heck of a party!!
