No CIC at Stuart in 2013
They just posted this on FB... I am way out of the eventing loop so it's likely this had been brewing unnoticed by me for some time. Anyone know why? I understand the new realities, economic & otherwise that were likely at play but I am sad to lose the divisions as a spectator & fan.

Low entries in the CIC divisions and the high cost of running FEI divisions.

From their FB page -
Stuart Horse Trials-
For the past several years the numbers have been going down and last year we only had 5 riders finish in the 1*. It costs us $10,000 in added officials alone to run the CIC divisions so we are going to offer big prize money in the Intermediate and Preliminary divisions and see what happens. When we started the CIC's we were one of very few to offer them. Now they are offered at 2 events before us and if the riders need a CIC they get it done before us.

The Calendar Monster strikes again! Although I really like the idea of prize money in preliminary!

I completely understand the financial aspect of that but that now means that Area 1 has NO FEI events... which really is quite unfortunate.

Stuart does NOT lack for prizes in lower levels - for 3rd in Novice I received a $40 giftcard to dover, a $25 to BoB, a quart of stomach soother, a 80 day supply of Cosequin ASU, a free tub of supplements from foxden.
