I would guess you're eliminated in that phase, but still given a numerical score for record-keeping purposes.

I saw a copy of the gymnastics phase as well and I was trying to figure it out and I gave up after there were F, G, and H involved in the combination

i saw a copy of the gymnastics course and boy, it sure looked complicated.

Don Stewart had his crew laying over at my barn and boy, the courses he had set for them were wild, so I believe it. (I jumped one of them at 2'6" and it was a blast!)

The gymnastics course looks very interesting.

Based on the picture I saw, the course starts with a trot in line (1abcd) on the outside of the ring: trot vertical - 18ft to oxer - 34' to oxer - 32' to vertical.

They then have to go to the end of the ring for what many of you call "the circle of death" on here (2abcd and 2efgh). Riders have to jump the circle one way, then turn around and jump it the other way. They have to get 4 strides in between each jump going to the right, and 5 strides in between each jump going to left. It doesn't matter which way they go first, as long as they get the correct striding for each direction.

3abcd is a multiple bending line going down the center of the ring (looks like the shape of ~). It is a bending 5 strides (doesn't give the spacing on the course map, just says 5 strides) to a double oxer combination, then another bending 5 strides (again, just says 5 strides). Riders must then do a half turn in reverse and do the line backwards.

4abcd is a line down the outside (with a bending line from c to d). Rider must hand gallop the triple bar oxer for element a, then get a short 6 strides at 79'6" to a vertical-vertical combination (with what looks like liverpools on the backsides) set at 34'. It is then a bending 64' to an oxer (element 4d).

For the last part (element 4e and 4f), riders must then immediately circle left or right and turn inside of some decorations (or stone wall, or something like that) or something and jump the same oxer (the same as element 4d). It doesn't matter which circle they do first (left or right) but they need to do both before finishing.

I'm sure they have lots of jump crew out there too since they are jumping these jumps multiple times!

You might want to post that thought somewhere they are likely to see it.

They did a live stream of the dressage selection trials, or whatever the official name was for that competition. So they must be able to set up shop there, technology-wise.

Completely agree with both of these. Love both of those riders and could not even begin to express how proud I am of both of them for what we know will be a place in the top four!
