    Default Anyone have a sample half-lease contract to share? And a question...

    As the title says, would appreciate it if someone could send me a contract they've done up for a half-lease (or even an on-property full lease).

    Also, would like opinions from people who have been half-leasors before - say you're getting an extremely good deal, a very cheap half lease (significantly less than 1/2 the horse's board, and no other fees/expenses) on a nice horse, all tack provided, horse is insured, even the occasional private lesson thrown in... would you be willing to sign a contract that states you have to give at least 60 days' notice before ending the half lease?

    I would sign a lease that says everything noted above, in writing, sealed in gold and multiple copies filed away for safe keeping, all originally signed.

    I don't mind leasing, but you better have everything signed and sealed.

    I have a lease agreement I can email you.

    While I think it sounds good, it will cost you more to enforce it if somebody disappears...

    Just sent you a couple I had and a link where you can find examples for all sorts of agreements ( you will have to edit them to suit your needs of course).

    Biggest thing in doing these is to COVER YOUR ASS.

    Probably the fact that leases are not always as concrete as they sound. You could end up spending $$$ on a lawyer. Also, it might "cost you" your horse, if they did really disappear.

    That said, people have successful leases all the time. Not meant to scare you away from it, but to make sure you're educated and cautious.

    I would sign an agreement for a 30 days notice. 60, I'm not sure, I'd have to think about it...
