The horse last raced July of last year. By all accounts, he stood around and did nothing until June of this year when the OP purchased him.
He's far from straight off the track...
Right.. he sat in a field at his old farm, but clearly did not get off the trailer ready, mentally or physically, to launch right into work. Time to settle into new surroundings, was my suggestion, as clearly this horse is a bit fried at the moment.
