Northstar is at OSU vet clinic being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 40% of his body. He's doing better than expected--they've been able to debride his wounds and reduce his pain meds-- and they hope to start skin grafts soon. Northstar is eating well, friendly and interactive with the vets and is an excellent patient. He's a remarkable horse, especially after all he's been through.
The Northstar Equine Foundation has raised funds to support Northstar's treatment (which will take years) and to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the b#stards that did this horrible thing. They are also working to get PA legislators to toughen the penalties for animal cruelty in PA. (Currently PA has some of the most lax anti-cruelty laws in the country, and if the perps are caught, the penalty won't be much more than if they were caught speeding in a work zone.)
The Northstar Equine Foundation is holding a rally at the Mound Grove Golf Course in Waterford, PA, to benefit Northstar and to educate the public on animal cruelty laws and the process of changing the law.
