Super cute! But I'm surprised the class is riding in draw reins and side reins. Huh!

Yeah, what is that about!
Too cute though!

There were both draw reins and side reins as well as something that looked like a chambon or neck stretcher on the grey.

I think someone on another thread said the set-up of draw/side reins.etc. is commonplace in Germany in these beginner classes. No idea why, though, as there was no explanation.
However, that little pony just made my head explode from the cuteness!

It beats charging around all-over-crooked with unsteady handed riders with bad positions.

The little guy had vienna reins on him...when I learned to ride under a German military guy, all the green horses wore sidereins until the riders could keep them on the bit. As someone said, preferable over above the bit, crooked etc.
Wish someone was small enough to ride my mini...he's great mover!

I'm not saying it's not a good idea, there was just no other information as to why! I'm in agreement with it now that I know why it's done.

That little rider had a nice following seat!

So riders learn to ride from their seats and not fiddle around with the hands all the time focusing on the horse's head (great idea, btw!)

Definitely a great idea--I wish my riding education had started focusing on riding from my seat!

What? There were other riders in the class?
