I've noticed my horse has been shedding a lot more than usual in the past few weeks. He always sheds in the fall a little bit to get ready for that winter coat, but I don't remember it ever being this much. He isn't losing so much hair that he has bald patches or anything, but it comes off pretty easily if you just rub your hand along his coat. I'm a bit concerned. Is there something this could be? Should I talk to the vet?
Very normal My guy started shedding super early this year...he was a hairy mess, and had his full winter coat (not that his winter coat is all that thick anyways, but still) by mid-September...and is now sporting a body clip and a fly sheet because it's still 90-100+ degrees here. Sometimes their coats are just weird.
Shedders here too! I don't clip because they are out all winter naked, so right now we're going to shows & I'm sure the showmanship judge thinks I never brush my horse because his little silver roan hairs are flying around everywhere!
