Default Inspection pics: My home-made Eventer gets stamped Premium!

shout out to the baby daddy, Tzigane *Pb*!!
here are my two favorite pics of Taz:

I took my Anglo-TK kiddo, Swank Dezign, to the Trakehner inspection last weekend and she was a little star. She racked up the highest foal score which was Premium! Plus she was the only Anglo. The others were out of imported mares.

I trotted Miss Swain around the arena once in hand with Swanky running at liberty and the judge said "ok that's enough, I've seen all I need."
He dished out a score of 8/9/9 and then went on to tell everyone why she scored so well and said some pretty amazing stuff. He was really informative and I was very impressed with him.
He did the branding as well.

We really wanted Mom/Daughter "at liberty" pics so while he gave his explanations we let them roam around the area for some kodak time.

here are a few of the pics!!
    She's 5 months old now.

she just stood there like a good girl.

I can't wait to do some more stuff with her.
Hopefully Area V will hold a FEH competition next year.

Weaning is next weekend and Miss Swain is going to go to my friend, to hopefully make a few Flagmount's Freedom babies! (ISH)

She's lovely; so are her mum and dad.

I don't understand the Traks. Is she a trak or an Anglo-Trak? Don't they have something slightly different for half Trakehners? Is Miss Swain accepted for Trakehner breeding from henceforth?

I believe Swain was presented to ATA prior to the birth of the wee one for Trak approval and received it. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I remember a thread about it.

Default Trakehner accepts TBs and Arabs

Yes, Miss Swain was accepted into the American Trakehner Association Preliminary Stud Book.
This means that when bred to an approved Trak stallion, the baby is considered 100% Trak and can be branded as such.

If I had not had Miss Swain approved, I believe I would have had the baby branded with the 1/2 antler.

This is how Windfall is considered full Trakehner.
    He is:
    1/4 Trakehner
    1/4 Shagya Arab
    1/2 TB

    His parents were approved.
I would call him an Anglo Arab. I sure am glad he's an approved Trak stallion because he has some nice kiddos out there.

interestingly enough...I *think* if I were to take Swain Song xx (approved in ATA PSB) and breed her to Sea Accounts xx (approved ATA breeding stallion) the resulting 100% TB foal could be branded full Trakehner. I may be totally off on that one though...

Once Swanky Swanks turns 3, I'll take her back for her mare approval.

Not quite... I wondered about this myself as there's no way that I know of (no expert!) to breed a full TB by AI and have it eligible for WB breeding. Which makes no sense.

Q: If my stallion is approved, can his purebred Thoroughbred or Arabian offspring be registered as Trakehners?
A: No, only offspring produced from Official Studbook Trakehner mares without a Thoroughbred or Arabian parent will be eligible for Official Registry Book registration.
Q: Why is his breeding license restricted to Trakehner mares without a Thoroughbred or Arabian parent?
A: Horses must be 50% Trakehner blood to be eligible for registration because the ATA is based on bloodlines rather than sport horse type.
But that is a gorgeous baby girl you have!

If you have a WB approved full TB stallion and you breed to a WB approved TB mare there are some registries that will register the full TB foal. I believe A Fine Romance has some full TB offspring registered as Oldenburgs, and I'm sure there are others. ATA may have percentage of Trak blood rules though.
there was just a thread about this recently on e breeding forum.

Lovely foal! You must be thrilled with those scores!

Trak. approved TB stallion and Trak. approved TB mare--resulting foal would not be eligible for Trakehner papers. Must be 50% Trakehner blood. Could get Jockey Club papers if breeding was live cover. Not sure if foal would be eligible for official papers with any registry other than Jockey Club.

    this is interesting...
how is it that Windfall was registered then?

    In theory, he is:

    arabian/thoroughbred
    trakehner
    thoroughbred
    thoroughbred

    So 1/8 arab + 1/8 thoroughbred
    1/4 Trakehner
    1/2 thoroughbred

even though his pops was only 50% Trakehner he was registered Trakehner but that doesn't transfer 50% Trakehner blood to Windfall.

I may be mistaken in the percentages. This was off the top of my head. Probably should have looked it up. I have a mostly TB mare base so am limited in taking advantage of the new TB stallions. Even though I drool when I look at them! Also, Windfall was approved in Germany and their requirements differ in some areas. Maren would be the one to chime in on this one. Also, it may have something to do with the fact that the TB's are for improvement of the breed and there are restrictions on what can be bred to them and still get full Trakehner papers.

I do wish the ATA would consider opening a full TB Book as an Appendix. It would solve the A1 conundrum (sp), would not dilute their trak book, and would serve as conduit for sport bred TB blood to be incorporated into the full Traks.

It could work something like the AQHA Appendix registry.

They are the obvious WB registry to do something like that.
