14.2 Beginner safe walk/trot mare in Ohio - free lease
I have a large pony mare who I used to teach beginner/intermediate lessons on who is in need of a new home (I don't have a lesson program anymore). Located near Cincinnati, OH. She is available for free lease only for an indefinite period of time. I will take her back at any time for any reason! Contract and references required.
-Completely kid/beginner friendly
-Slow, smooth gaits
-Light enough to aids that you don't have to kick or pull, but doesn't overreact to a beginners accidental bumps
-Goes english (used to be a hunter and did first/second level dressage)
-Goes western (including neck reining and she will do a slow western pleasure jog)
-Rides just as well in a halter/lead rope as she does in a snaffle
-Ties, trailers, etc... been there done that
-Gets along in turnout with every horse I've ever tried her with!
-Super easy keeper
-Has arthritis which limits her to walk/trot work - no cantering. Also, she may get a little sore if she's ridden every single day (hocks). She would be best suited to a family with a kid or a few kids who are learning to ride and wouldn't work her hard. I am also open to her going to a lesson program if she will only be lightly used.
-Won't let little kids bridle her or pick her feet (she just stands there and ignores them haha, she is perfect for older kids/adults)
-Tends to get a little gassy if she gets much grass, does best on a mainly dirt lot with hay
-Hates shots and dewormer, but I've always managed to get them done ok
Bump. This mare is still available. We've been riding her both English and Western lately, and I've been taking her out on trail rides (including one big breast cancer benefit ride with over 100 horses), and she went to a three hour long obstacle clinic and was really good a couple weeks ago! We even had to chase down a loose horse through some farmers fields lol! This is a good mare who just needs an easy job.
can she trot X rails? I am starting up a lesson program and need something for the very beginners. We are only offering lessons three days a week, so she would get ridden 3-5 times a week...mostly lunge line and teaching kids to post and steer. Excellent show facility and the best care!

Bump, this sweetie is still available. She could also make a nice hunter pony broodmare if you are the type that doesn't need papers. She has had one foal who is now a very fancy 4 year old with a great temperament who is just starting her career.
