We went to a weekend clinic two weeks ago, stayed overnight (which I normally strenuously avoid doing,) and by the following Tuesday, horse had a snotty nose and a cough.
Nothing horrible, no temperature, not off feed, not gushing green snot, so nothing that immediately sugested he should be on antibiotics.
So here we are 10 days or so later, the snotty nose has largely cleared up, but the cough is still present if I trot him up, and he very occasionally coughs when he's just standing around. He's not hacking away out there to the extent that I feel he should definately be on ventipulmin either.
It is very dry and dusty here, to compound the issue.
I do have the vet coming out on Monday to see him (I'm thinking I might just as well let him move into my spare room, all the time he is spending here at the moment...)
Am I over-reacting? Should I just be assuming that this would take longer than 10 days to run it's course?
